Making a website with limited resources

Sunstone Reach was established to meet the growing need for specialized services for children with autism, long wait times in the public system, and a lack of qualified professionals.

With very limited resources, I designed and launched a website within a few weeks.

The target audience was private and public service providers, as well as parents and guardians.

Research

Kickoff
I initiated the project by organizing a stakeholder workshop to define project goals and scope. Through structured exercises, we identified key requirements:

  • A modern and professional website

  • Clear communication of the company’s background, mission, and services

  • A visual style aligned with Sunstone’s branding while emphasizing service offerings

User Insights
To better understand user needs, I conducted short interviews with existing clients and target audience members. Key takeaways included:

  • Easy and direct contact options

  • Clearly described services with simple language

  • Transparent information about service costs and funding sources

Target groups
Based on insights from the workshop and interviews, I developed user personas to better visualize different user groups. These were validated with stakeholders.

Competitive analysis
Next, I reviewed competitor websites to identify best practices and opportunities. The analysis showed big differences in quality and design. A feature and SWOT analysis highlighted Sunstone Reach’s main strength: fast access to qualified help.

Challenge

I was tasked with creating a fully functional website within three weeks. Additionally, I had no access to developers or a budget for external resources. Given these constraints, prioritization was crucial. Without the possibility of conducting a full UX process, I had to focus on high-impact activities that could be executed efficiently. The key challenge was ensuring the website met stakeholder expectations while maintaining a professional and user-friendly experience under strict time and resource limitations.

Design and testing

Designing
I began the design process by structuring the website’s content through information architecture and user flow mapping. Due to the project’s time constraints, I focused on rapid iteration. With only some rough wireframes to outline key pages, I started building the website.

Building
Lacking developer resources, I leveraged a no-code platform to build the site. Based on past experience with no-code tools, I knew this would allow for fast implementation while maintaining design flexibility.

To get started, I relied on a solid template that I could adjust to match Sunstone’s visual profile. Moving forward, I designed iteratively as I added content, refining the layout and structure along the way.

Testing
Regular check-ins with the stakeholders ensured alignment with business objectives and user needs. Once the initial version was ready, I shared it with my network for feedback and minor usability testing.

Solution

The final deliverable was a fully functional website that successfully met all project requirements. The website was designed to be intuitive and visually cohesive with Sunstone’s brand, while ensuring accessibility and ease of use for different user groups.

The solution provided:

  • A visually appealing, professional design

  • A well-structured, easy-to-navigate layout with clear service descriptions

  • A scalable foundation that allows for future expansion and additional content

Final thoughts

This project demonstrated how significant results can be achieved under tight constraints. Without a budget or developers, I had to make strategic decisions about prioritization, focusing on rapid iteration and stakeholder collaboration. This experience reinforced the importance of creative problem-solving and adaptability in UX design.

Additionally, this project highlighted the effectiveness of no-code tools for fast and flexible deployment. They enabled the delivery of a functional, scalable, and visually consistent website without the need for traditional development resources.

Looking ahead, there is potential to further develop the website by adding more resources, case studies, and analytics to improve user engagement. Establishing a content strategy will also be key to maintaining long-term relevance and impact.
